LinkedIn Image Sizes 2026: Posts, Carousels, Banners
LinkedIn image sizes for 2026: 1080 x 1080 posts, 1080 x 1350 portraits, 1584 x 396 banners, official Page covers, ads specs, and carousel pixels.
I post LinkedIn photos at 1080 x 1080 or 1080 x 1350 in 2026. Link-style landscape stills are 1200 x 627. Personal banners are 1584 x 396. Company Page covers are 1512 x 256 on LinkedIn Help for Pages and Career Pages (Buffer and Hootsuite still print 1128 x 191). Paid single-image ads are a separate spec on business.linkedin.com: 1200 x 628, 1200 x 1200, or 720 x 900, max 5 MB. Carousels work as matching squares or matching 4:5 slides. This page is LinkedIn only. Instagram pixels live elsewhere.
TL;DR
- Feed photo: 1080 x 1080 or 1080 x 1350
- Link image: 1200 x 627
- Personal banner: 1584 x 396
- Company cover: 1512 x 256 (Help); Buffer still lists 1128 x 191
- Ads: 1200 x 628 / 1200 x 1200 / 720 x 900, 5 MB
What LinkedIn image size should I use for a feed post in 2026?
I use 1080 x 1080 when the graphic is a quote or a simple announcement, and 1080 x 1350 (4:5) when I already made the file for Instagram. Both look native. 1200 x 627 (about 1.91:1) is what I use when the image is tied to an article link.
| Post type | Pixels | Ratio |
|---|---|---|
| Square photo | 1080 x 1080 | 1:1 |
| Portrait photo | 1080 x 1350 | 4:5 |
| Link / landscape | 1200 x 627 | 1.91:1 |
| Video still | 1920 x 1080 | 16:9 |
Hootsuite lists LinkedIn landscape 1200 x 627, vertical 720 x 900, square 1200 x 1200, and cover 1128 x 191. Those 1200-wide squares are closer to ads than to a personal photo post. LinkedIn will accept other sizes and then crop. I crop first. For a one-off, I run the LinkedIn image resizer.
What if I attach a URL to the post?
Then LinkedIn may pull a 1200 x 627 link preview and ignore your square. Help says URL images should be 1.91:1 (1200 x 627) and more than 200 pixels wide, or they show as a tiny left thumbnail. If the URL is the point, I design 1200 x 627. If the photo is the point, I skip the link or I put the URL in the caption.
What’s the best size for a LinkedIn carousel?
I build carousels at 1080 x 1080 or 1080 x 1350, every slide the same. Document carousels are a PDF. Image carousels are a set of pictures. I prefer PDF when there’s a lot of type, because the text stays crisp.
| Carousel | Size | Cap I work to |
|---|---|---|
| Square slides | 1080 x 1080 | ~10 MB per image |
| Portrait slides | 1080 x 1350 | Same |
| Landscape PDF | 1920 x 1080 | PDF up to 100 MB, keep it lighter |
| Slide count | I keep it under 15 pages unless it’s a real deck |
Mixing 1:1 and 4:5 in one PDF makes the shorter pages look like postage stamps.
Should I upload a PDF or a set of images?
PDF when there’s a lot of type. Images when each slide is a photo. I flatten fonts in the PDF so LinkedIn doesn’t substitute a system typeface. I also keep the file well under 100 MB. A 90 MB deck is legal and slow.
What size is a LinkedIn personal banner?
1584 x 396 pixels. That’s 4:1, a thin strip. The profile photo overlaps the lower left. I keep type and logos out of roughly the left 400 pixels and out of the bottom 80 pixels.
Mobile shows even less of the sides. I put the name or offer in the center third. A banner that looks perfect on desktop can lose the right-hand CTA on a phone.
Can I upload a bigger banner?
You can, and LinkedIn will scale it. I still design at 1584 x 396 so I see the real crop. A 4k banner doesn’t add detail you can read at 396 px tall.
What size is a LinkedIn company page cover?
LinkedIn Help now recommends 1512 x 256 pixels for a Page cover (PNG or JPEG, max 3 MB). Logo: minimum 268 x 268, recommended 400 x 400. Career Pages “Life” main image is 1128 x 376. Help also says covers can trim on different screens, so I put the name in the center and I keep type away from the edges, especially the lower-right.
Buffer and Hootsuite still list company covers at 1128 x 191. That’s the older thin strip. If the upload box on your Page still says 1128 x 191, I design to that box. If it asks for 1512 x 256, I use Help. Either way the strip is thin. Skip tiny taglines.
If LinkedIn shows you a different upload box, I design to that box and keep the same rule: center the words, skip the edges.
Where does the company logo go on the cover?
Center. Not the far left, where some layouts add buttons. Not a 2-pixel-tall tagline under a wide wordmark. If the wordmark won’t fit at 191 px tall, I use the icon and put the name in the page title, which LinkedIn already draws.
What size should LinkedIn single-image ads be?
Organic posts and ads share ratios. They don’t share the upload box. LinkedIn’s official single-image ads specs (business.linkedin.com) list:
| Ad shape | Recommended | Min | Max | File |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Landscape | 1200 x 628 (1.91:1) | 640 x 360 | 7680 x 4320 | 5 MB |
| Square | 1200 x 1200 (1:1) | 360 x 360 | 4320 x 4320 | 5 MB |
| Vertical | 720 x 900 (4:5) or 628 x 1200 (1:1.91) or 600 x 900 (2:3) | 360 x 640 | 2430 x 4320 | 5 MB |
I don’t boost a 1080 x 1920 Reel cover as a LinkedIn ad and hope. I recrop to 1200 x 1200 or 720 x 900 and I keep type off the edges.
Should I post square or landscape on LinkedIn?
Square (or 4:5) for native photos. Landscape for link previews. A landscape photograph in the feed looks like a letterbox on a phone. I used to ship 1200 x 627 for everything because that number was on every 2019 cheat sheet. It still works for URLs. It’s a weak choice for a portrait of a founder.
What size should a LinkedIn article cover be?
I use 1920 x 1080 (16:9) for article covers and newsletter headers when I want them to match a video thumb. 1280 x 720 also works. I keep the title in the center because article covers get cropped in some feeds.
What size should my LinkedIn profile photo be?
Upload 800 x 800 at a minimum. I prefer 1080 x 1080. Hootsuite lists 400 x 400. The display circle is smaller, around 400 px on desktop and less on mobile. A busy background turns into noise at that size. I crop tighter than I’d for Instagram.
Company logos I upload at 300 x 300 or larger square. Help’s recommended Page logo is 400 x 400 (min 268 x 268). Tiny SVGs that look fine on a website go soft in the LinkedIn circle.
Is the personal photo size the same as the company logo?
No. Personal photos I upload at 1080 x 1080. Company logos can be 300 x 300, but I still prefer 1080 x 1080 so the circle is sharp on a 3x display. Both are squares. The company mark needs more padding inside the circle so it doesn’t touch the crop.
What size should a LinkedIn event or document post use?
Events I still design at 1280 x 720 (16:9) or 1920 x 1080. Document posts are PDFs. I export slides at 1080 x 1080 or 1920 x 1080 and I flatten fonts. A 40-page pitch deck will post. Nobody will swipe 40 pages. I cut it.
| Placement | Pixels |
|---|---|
| Event cover | 1280 x 720 |
| Article cover | 1920 x 1080 |
| Profile photo | 1080 x 1080 (upload) |
| Company logo | 400 x 400 recommended (Help) |
Why does my LinkedIn image look cropped on mobile?
LinkedIn’s mobile feed is narrower than desktop. Landscape images lose the sides. Banners lose the sides and get covered by the avatar. I preview on a phone, not only in the desktop composer.
If the subject is a group of people on the right edge, mobile will eat them. I keep faces in the middle.
Does desktop show more of a landscape post?
Yes. Desktop is wider, so a 1200 x 627 image looks less cramped. That’s why old cheat sheets loved 1200 x 627. Most people still tap LinkedIn on a phone, so I design for the narrow crop.
Can I reuse Instagram 4:5 images on LinkedIn?
Yes, 1080 x 1350 posts on LinkedIn. I still check type size. Instagram can hide a small caption under the photo. LinkedIn users read the graphic itself. If the Instagram file has a huge empty sky for the 4:5 crop, I recrop to 1080 x 1080 for LinkedIn so the chart is bigger.
Don’t reuse a 1080 x 1920 Reel cover as a LinkedIn photo. It will crop hard. Instagram pixels are on Instagram image sizes. Facebook’s wide cover is a different crop on Facebook cover photo size.
What file type and max size does LinkedIn accept?
JPG or PNG for stills. LinkedIn Help caps Page images at 3 MB. Buffer lists 8 MB for personal profile photos and covers, 3 MB for company logos and covers. Ads cap at 5 MB on the official ads spec. PNG for logos and type. GIF works for simple motion and looks cheap if it’s a 20-frame loop of a talking head. PDF for carousels, well under 100 MB. I export sRGB. LinkedIn will recompress. Starting from a 200 kb mushy JPG is how logos halo.
What image specs does LinkedIn Help list for Career Pages?
Career Pages (the Life tab) are a separate Help row, not a feed post. Official sizes:
| Module | Recommended pixels |
|---|---|
| Page logo | 400 x 400 (min 268 x 268) |
| Page cover | 1512 x 256 |
| Life main image | 1128 x 376 |
| Life custom modules | 502 x 282 |
| Life company photos | 900 x 600 (min 264 x 176) |
Help wants high-res JPEG over PNG for photos, and it says a transparent logo sits on white. I test the mark on light and dark. URL posts attached to a Page still want 1200 x 627 (1.91:1) and more than 200 pixels wide, or LinkedIn shows a tiny left thumbnail.
How do I resize images for LinkedIn without blurring logos?
I start from a vector or a 2x PNG, then I downscale to 1080. I never upscale a 500 px quote card. After resize I check the logo at 100% on a phone.
For banners I build the 1584 x 396 file from scratch. Scaling a Facebook cover into a LinkedIn banner is how you get a stretched logo. The size hub is the map. This page is the LinkedIn row.
