Instagram Line Break Generator
Instagram removes empty lines from captions and bios and drops any line that ends with a space, which is why a carefully spaced caption turns into one block after you post. Write your caption on the left with the spacing you want; the version on the right has an invisible character on every blank line so Instagram keeps it.
Instagram removes empty lines and any line that ends with a space. This tool puts an invisible Braille blank (U+2800) on each empty line and trims trailing spaces, so the spacing you see here is the spacing your followers see.
How to add line breaks in Instagram captions
- Type or paste your caption in the left box, pressing Enter twice wherever you want a blank line.
- Check the right box: blank lines now hold an invisible Braille blank (U+2800) and trailing spaces are removed.
- Copy and paste into Instagram's caption or bio field, or schedule it directly.
Instagram strips every kind of rich text. The only way to get bold or italic into a caption, bio or comment is with Unicode characters, and the only way to keep blank lines is to put an invisible character on them. Captions fold after about 125 characters on the feed, so the first line has to earn the tap.
Why Instagram deletes your line breaks
Instagram trims whitespace when it saves a caption: consecutive line breaks collapse and lines that end in a space are removed. The workaround every large account uses is to put something on the empty line that Instagram treats as content but that readers cannot see. The Braille blank is the cleanest option; a period or dash also works if you prefer a visible marker. The same trick works in the bio and in comments.
Caption spacing tips
- Put the hook on line one: only about 125 characters show before "more".
- One idea per paragraph, two or three short lines each.
- Leave hashtags for the last paragraph, or the first comment.
- The 2,200-character cap includes the invisible characters, so a very long caption with many blank lines can run out of room.

Frequently asked questions
How do you make a line break in an Instagram caption?
Pressing Enter works for single line breaks, but blank lines between paragraphs get removed. Put an invisible character on the blank line (this tool does it automatically) and the spacing stays.
What is the invisible character for Instagram?
The Braille pattern blank, Unicode U+2800 (⠀). Instagram counts it as text so the line is kept, and it renders as empty space.
Does this work for the Instagram bio?
Yes. The bio is limited to 150 characters, so use blank lines sparingly there.
Does it work on TikTok, Threads and Facebook?
TikTok and Threads keep blank lines on their own in most cases. Facebook keeps them. If a platform ever collapses them, the same trick works.
