How it fits on each platform
Characters are counted the way people see them: an emoji or an accented letter is one character, the same way most platforms count. X uses a weighted count: links are always 23, and emoji or CJK characters count as 2.
Post limits by platform (2026)
Every platform counts a little differently. Instagram and Bluesky count characters as people see them, so an emoji is one. X weights them: links are 23, most letters are 1, emoji and CJK are 2. LinkedIn and Facebook count code units, which means some emoji count as two. This tool shows the human count and uses X's weighting where it matters.
What gets cut where
- X: 280 weighted characters on a free account; 25,000 on Premium.
- Threads: 500. Bluesky: 300 graphemes. Mastodon: 500 by default.
- Instagram: 2,200, folds after ~125. TikTok: 4,000, shows one line.
- LinkedIn: 3,000, folds after ~210. Facebook: 63,206, folds after a few lines.
- YouTube: titles 100, descriptions 5,000. Pinterest: titles 100, descriptions 500.
