Pinterest benchmark: median about 0.3% by followers, with 0.1% low and 1%+ strong. Saves are the metric that matters on Pinterest; outbound clicks second.

Formula: (likes + comments + saves + other) ÷ posts ÷ followers × 100. Rate by reach uses the same interactions over the reach or views you enter, which is the number brands and platforms increasingly use.

Engagement rate formula

By followers: (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ posts ÷ followers × 100.
By reach: total interactions ÷ reach × 100.
By views: total interactions ÷ views × 100 (video platforms).

Rate by followers is the number everyone quotes and the easiest to compare. Rate by reach is fairer for accounts with many inactive followers and is what most brands and platforms use internally.

Pinterest engagement rate benchmarks 2026

  • Pinterest: 0.3% by followers; saves matter most

Benchmarks are medians from public 2025 studies by Socialinsider, Rival IQ and Hootsuite. Small accounts almost always have higher rates than large ones, and niche matters more than platform.

What moves the number

  • Replying to comments in the first hour roughly doubles comment counts on most platforms.
  • Posting when your audience is online: see our best time to post tools.
  • Fewer, better posts. Engagement rate is per post; volume dilutes it.
  • Saves and shares are weighted more than likes by Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good engagement rate?

Between 1% and 3% by followers is good for most accounts in 2026; over 5% is excellent. On TikTok the bar is higher (3–6%), on Facebook and X much lower (under 0.5% is normal).

Should I include saves and shares?

Yes if you can see them: they are the interactions platforms weight most. Leave the field blank if you cannot.

Engagement rate by followers or by reach?

By followers for comparing accounts and tracking yourself over time. By reach when negotiating with brands or when a large share of your followers are inactive.

How many posts should I average?

The last 10–12 posts gives a stable number. One viral post skews a single-post rate either way.
