LinkedIn Character Counter
Type or paste and the count updates as you go. The big number tracks the 3,000-character post limit; the bars underneath show the same text against every other LinkedIn field, so you can check a bio, a comment and a post without switching tools.
Every LinkedIn limit
Characters are counted the way people see them: an emoji or an accented letter is one character, the same way LinkedIn counts.
LinkedIn character limits in 2026
A LinkedIn post is capped at 3,000 characters, with about 210 visible before "see more" on desktop and fewer on mobile. Headlines are 220, the About section 2,600, comments 1,250. LinkedIn wraps lines at about 60 characters on a phone, so short lines read better.
How LinkedIn counts characters
LinkedIn counts characters roughly the way you see them: an emoji is one, an accented letter is one, a line break is one. This tool counts graphemes (user-perceived characters), which matches LinkedIn for everyday text. Some platforms' internals count emoji flags or skin tones as two, so if you are exactly at the limit, trim a few characters to be safe.
Writing to the LinkedIn limit
- Under 12 words in the first line, one idea per post, short lines with white space. Posts that ask a real question get comments, and comments are what the LinkedIn feed rewards.
- Use "Trim to limit" to cut at the boundary, then rewrite the ending rather than leaving a cut-off sentence.
- Hashtags and mentions count in full.
