Instagram Money Calculator
Instagram does not pay for posts. Creator income comes from sponsorships, affiliate links and products, and sponsorship rates track followers and engagement. Enter both and the calculator gives a per-post range using the $10-per-1,000-followers rule of thumb, adjusted for engagement.
Instagram sponsored post rates (2026)
- Nano (1k–10k): $20–$150 per post, often product-for-post
- Micro (10k–50k): $100–$700
- Mid (50k–200k): $500–$3,000
- Macro (200k–1M): $2,000–$12,000
The working rule is $10 per 1,000 followers per feed post, scaled by engagement: an account at 4% engagement charges double the rule; at 0.5% it charges half. Reels and Stories are priced separately, and usage rights, exclusivity and whitelisting each add 20–50%.
Other ways Instagram accounts earn
- Affiliate links in bio and Stories (5–20% commission).
- Your own products or services: the highest margin by far.
- Instagram bonuses and gifts, available in some countries and unpredictable.
- Subscriptions for exclusive content.
Frequently asked questions
How much do Instagram creators make per post?
Roughly $10 per 1,000 followers per feed post, adjusted for engagement: from about $50 at 5k followers to $5,000+ at 500k.
Does Instagram pay you for followers?
No. Instagram does not pay for followers, likes or views outside limited bonus programs. Income comes from sponsors, affiliates and your own products.
How many followers do you need to make money on Instagram?
Brands work with accounts from about 1,000 followers if engagement is high and the niche is specific. Engagement rate matters more than size.
Should I charge more for Reels?
Yes. Reels take longer to produce and reach further. Most creators charge 1.5–2× their feed-post rate.
